Welcome to the Oberlin Swing and Blues Society (affectionately known as OSwing Blues). We are a student-run organization here at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio.
Our mission is to foster a Swing and Blues social dance scene where students and visitors alike can meet, dance, learn, and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment.
This year we are working to revive the swing/blues scene! This past year has been rough for the organization and we hope that this year we can start to pick up your interest.
Information about dances:
We hold dances every 2 weeks. The dances are Saturdays from 9-11 in Hales Gym. All of our dances are meant to be a fun and safe space for everyone involved. For more information about this, please go to the bottom of the website to read our Anti-Harassment Policy. While we dip into current trends in Swing and Blues, like fusion, we try to keep our scene rooted in the original traditions of Swing and Blues by holding DJ Trainings that talk about history as well as making playlists and teaching Swing (and Blues but not this semester) ExCos at a variety of levels. The majority of the music at our dances is DJ-ed from a computer, but on special occasions, like our Workshops, we often have live music.
